I had never taught a dog to use a bell or an object to alert for needing to go outside so this was sort of difficult at first on my end to figure out how to do it, but overall the end result was fantastic. They are loud without being annoyingly loud. I can hear the dog ringing it from anywhere in my 1700sqft house which is very convenient. To the sturdiness, we have a husky who is around 50lbs and likes to really use her claws when ringing it and despite that the metal bell portion and plastic depression button have held up well over the last 10+/- months. She often even flips it hitting it so hard and it continues to work well. The addition of the training clicker is nice but wasn't really necessary FOR ME as I already had those, but for someone else may be very useful. My major gripe here is with the durability of the paint and the rubber non-slip bottom. The paint itself started peeling in places about 3 months or so in and has increased to about 1/4-2/5 of the bells top surface has peeling paint. This does not affect its use AT ALL however part of the reason I purchased the item was cause it was kinda cute. I can obviously repaint it however the metal below is not rust resistant and will likely take some extra effort on my part to clean up before painting. The nonslip bottom covers a plastic base that is fine and I have had no issues with. That being said the non-slip is not glued in place, it is simply stretchy and slips over the bottom and uses tension to stay in place. That being said it often slips off with my larger dog and then needs to be put back on. I will regularly find the bell all around my kitchen wherever my dog has knocked it to. Additionally putting it back on constantly has caused it to rip in placed and it likely won't be useful much longer. I will probably just apply come silicone to the plastic bottom to fix this myself but again its something I have to do to fix an inherent problem with this product. This issue does affect the use of this item somewhat so that is why I dropped durability to a 2.Overall though I still rate this product a 4 because it is a sturdy metal bell that has held up in most ways except aesthetics. I would recommend it if you are looking to train your dog to bell alert for potty breaks. Just keep in mind this bell (and likely most of the other cheaper ones like it) will probably have to be repainted down the line.
