The flash made me happy. After the Yongnuo 565EX burned out, I thought about what kind of flash to get for almost a year. In fact (I didn’t want to take the Chinese anymore) there were three options on the market - the new 430EX II, the used 580EX II and the new (or used) 600EX (-RT). For a year I managed to try both the 430th and 580th. In the first, I was not satisfied with the lack of the ability to turn my head in the direction up-behind-the-back and a strong drop in power when using modifiers, I leaned towards the 580th. With the 600th, we were just lucky, a friend left the reportage for the studio, which made it possible to purchase it much cheaper than even average second-hand offers. Now, according to the flash itself - the top is the top. It's very hard to get into something. Capable of calmly illuminating a 16-square room with near-daylight and providing a decent exposure at 200mm at the distance of a waist-length portrait, and it's not at full power. I really liked the speed and accuracy of the autofocus backlight, perhaps on pro devices like 1D X the difference will not be so noticeable, but on my 550th I don’t even want to shoot it, I just turn off the flash and work only with autofocus backlight. I recommend it to anyone who makes a living from photography, or enthusiastic amateurs, if finances allow. I don’t see much point in changing the 580th version of the second version to it. With straight arms, you won't notice much of a difference.
