Review on GermGuardian True HEPA Filter Air Purifier: Eliminate Germs & Allergens with 5-in-1 UV Light Sanitizer & Charcoal Grey Design by Jennifer Redmond

cleaner air. Dust inside the block. Expensive filters.

I bought this animal allergy medicine from my husband about 18 months ago. For me it worked all of the time in our room, except on conference calls (its buzz is still very audible on the lowest settings). I have several issues with this product. After I replaced the filter for the first time, the "Replace filter" message didn't go away even though I used the original filter. I don't care about the light itself (although it's very bright), the problem is that it emits a very loud beep for 20 seconds every time the device is turned on. I feel like even my neighbors can hear it at night! I may have received a faulty unit, but the fact that it was designed with such a loud beep that cannot be turned off is a problem in itself I think! Filters get dirty quickly if they keep working. Filters cost $30 to $35 each, so keep that in mind when purchasing this device. Carbon filters help extend the life of the HEPA filter, but I'd still say no more than 3 months for clean air. Another thing is that dust accumulates on the front panel, from where clean air is blown out. I've had no success with a vacuum or wet wipes. There is no obvious way to remove the front panel to clean it. It helps purify the air but I don't think it's worth the cost. I removed this unit from our main room two months ago and replaced it with another brand that is half the price of this unit and does the same job. The HELP filters for this are $15 each. It's much better and doesn't have any annoying lights or noise.
