This is my first time buying a Cuckoo rice cooker and I am very impressed. There are some minor caveats/things to consider when purchasing, but TL; DR: This is a solid rice cooker and I have never made better rice with any other rice cooker. Firstly, the design is elegant - the rose gold back matches most of our appliances well and adds a nice touch to the kitchen. My only gripe with the exterior design is how flimsy some of the boards feel. It doesn't look like a product in its price range; feels a lot cheaper. I can imagine how it would shatter irrevocably if it fell. The built-in voices are fun - I'm greeted with a soft chime and a voice informing me of each step of the cooking process, which is really nice, although it's more of a "funny" thing. ' Thing as practical. The voice is multilingual and can be turned off completely. Again, a little over the top, but it has its own feature that gives me the freedom to work in the kitchen without having to constantly check the rice cooker. This particular rice cooker has no non-stick coating but does not use Teflon. No burnt rice ends up sticking to the bottom of the bowl — instead, I get smooth rice to my liking from top to bottom, and I don't have to worry about Teflon bits in my food. Disinfection function that uses hot water for disinfection. It should be noted that self-cleaning is not self-cleaning. In other words, you still have to loosen various plates and components in order to clean the device sufficiently. Do not rely on this feature alone to keep the rice cooker clean and in good condition. Speaking of components, there are several removable cleaning components, particularly in the lid. This is a pressure cooker and the various lids and steam filters need cleaning. It's delicate and fashionable, but the first panel in the lid requires some force. It's held in place by a thick rubber grommet with a tiny rubber handle that you can pull to remove the panel. The rubber grip is small and smooth, so people with thumbs/hands will have a hard time gripping it, and people with smaller fingers and hands will find it difficult to apply the force required to release. this and the plastic case where the cuckoo made clear design choices to save on production costs. Fortunately, none of these things detract from the quality of the product delivered. I have NEVER cooked better rice in a rice cooker than this one. There are several cooking modes to choose from - most people will use sticky rice. a rice setting that has 3 settings of its own - normal, high and turbo. In normal mode, rice is cooked in about 40 minutes. On high heat, the rice will cook in about 30 minutes. -- but not much. The worst "quality rice" I've had was the turbo setting for sticky rice - it was just a little firmer than I would have liked, but when I'm short on time the turbo makes good rice. Enough. Normal mode seems to give the best yield as the rice cooks evenly from top to bottom. There are no "hard" rice chunks at the bottom of the bowl or clumps of burnt rice, reducing waste. Each grain is soft and as sticky as I want. It's important to note that there are timing modes as well as ways to customize the cooking settings of each variation, allowing you to customize the presets to suit your needs. All in all, this is one of the best kitchen appliances I've bought in a long time.
