Review on Neewer LED Softbox Lighting Kit by Micheal Esquivel

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great and affordable setup for budget photography enthusiasts

In total I bought 2 LED softboxes to improve lighting for video and photo shoots. I was completely impressed with the performance and at this price point it's hard to find other products that I could find in a similar price range. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their photography or video game and can't afford other lighting solutions. A few great things to look out for: - Color Temperature: LED lights emit a nice bright/soft blue or yellow light as advertised. -In terms of brightness, with or without a diffuser, they can easily fill a dark or unevenly lit space. If you just want to fill a 10 x 10 foot room, a single light source is more than adequate and will do. The ability to control the brightness of the output is also great compared to the lamp settings. Performance wise I was concerned about overheating if the lights were left on for too long, but I can safely say that after a 2 hour video session the built in fans do more than enough work to keep the situation under control and are barely audible unless you are right next to the lamp. The power cords were much longer than expected, so I didn't have to use extension cords; However, since there is an option to purchase external batteries separately, you can also easily create a wireless and more versatile/portable setup. The included travel case is very well constructed and makes installation, disassembly, storage and travel a very seamless process. Some other things to look out for: - The included stands are quite sturdy but very light. I highly recommend only using them indoors unless you have weights, sandbags or a helper to hold them up, otherwise they will easily fall off if placed on an uneven surface or left outside on a windy day. upwards, attaching the softboxes to the LED heads proved more difficult than expected and would likely cause a bit of frustration for anyone unfamiliar with lighting setup. I highly recommend taking your time not to break the plastic rods that are supposed to hold the softbox's shape when attaching it to the lighting fixtures. for a wider range of changeable color temperatures, but this can easily be compensated for by purchasing cheap color gels.
