Review on ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Acomdata Tango 2.5-Inch USB/eSATA Hard Drive Enclosure Kit in Obsidian Black (Model TNGXXXUSE-BLK) by Ryan Frawley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great solid body!

I've had several other hard drive enclosures but this is simply the best I've had. I'll start by fitting your drive into the case, which is very easy. First remove 2 screws from one of the end plates so you can slide out the internal circuit board that you are attaching the drive to. Then place the drive on the board, plug it into the SATA connector and fasten the drive to the board with the 4 screws (included). Finally, slide the drive board back into the case and screw the end plate back on. Attaching the drive to the board in this way is a fantastic feature. One of my other cases didn't have this, meaning the drive was moving inside the case. The drive I used in this case ended up failing. Since hard drives can be subject to physical shock, being able to attach the drive to the board in this way is a huge plus. Using this case is also very easy. It comes with a USB 2.0 cable, or you can purchase an eSATA cable if you need faster transfer speeds. (I use this cable with my: eSATA to eSATA cable) If you are using USB 2.0, remember: you need 2 free USB ports. This device comes with a mini USB to USB Y cable. For example, one end has a mini USB connector and the other end has two USB connectors. Connect the mini USB connector to the case and the other two USB connectors to the computer. I believe one connector is used for power and the other for data. Even if you use eSATA, you still need a USB cable! The drive is not disconnected from the eSATA connection, so you still need to connect one of the USB cables to power the drive. (This is how I'm supposed to do it with my laptop. Whether that applies to desktops or other laptops, I don't know.) I also want to point out how well built this case is. The hard drive fits snugly into the case and stays in place. Due to the mounting of the drive mentioned above, there are no rattling noises or any movement of the drive inside the case. The metal body of the case is very durable and has no scratches or chips even after several months of carrying it in a backpack. The markings on the case are also immaculate, not scratched or chipped. Overall I would say this is a fantastic case, especially considering the low price. The cable situation might seem a bit of a hassle at first, but I won't let that stop you from buying this product!
