After our French press, which was more than ten years old, broke, I could not find a direct replacement. I didn't want to buy it because I was afraid it would be too cheap. I was wrong. It is great. No, it's not like an expensive French press when you're holding a fragile plunger, but the coffee comes out perfect and the plunger is strong enough. The jar feels solid, the silicone base stays nice, holds the temperature very well and comes apart easily for cleaning if you like it. 5/7 recommend.
