This one doesn't have a lock, but you can attach it with a rubber band. The stand itself is hefty and the top has a couple of rings etched into the surface for gripping the cake and making recommendations to keep your frosting round and smooth. The hardware isn't bad, but not stainless steel as the cranked spatulas have started to rust and I haven't even used them. I don't care as I only bought it for the stand itself and got it on quick sale which made it cheaper compared to other models. It also makes a nice sound when you hit it, in case anyone else cares.
