Works exactly as it should. I don't understand why and how the competition can be different? Sturdy metal construction. Everyone is heavy as a brick. If I dropped it on the floor I would be concerned about the health of my floor. I've made spaghetti and linguine and both came out great. The roller can become very thin. My wife is Korean and she made mandu (dumplings) with a roller and it worked really well and could have been even thinner. Very important! It seems to be one of those products that you can find at Revain that are made in the same factory and different suppliers engrave the logo and they all cost different. As this was one of the cheapest at the time of purchase I feel it was a win. :) I haven't seen any Kitchen-Aid brand tools, but unless they cook my pasta or add sauce, I'm pretty sure they'll both do the job. That's only a fraction of the price.
