I had an intermediate sanding on my 2003 Corolla. I replaced the water pump with a Gates brand about 30,000 miles ago, so I didn't suspect it was coming from the water pump. I replaced the alternator and power steering pump but the noise remained. I installed this ACDelco water pump yesterday and my noise is finally gone. I'm not sure why the Gates pump only lasted 30,000 miles.
