Review on πŸ“Ί RCA ANT111E Non-Amplified Indoor Digital TV Antenna, Black - 40-Mile Range by Dwight Tim

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than I expected.

I have never used rabbit ears with an HDTV in my life. Think back to them growing up in Mexico before cable existed or when the local station wasn't on cable. Well, fast-forward to 2020 for all that this year entails, and DirectTV is locked in a contract dispute with distributor NBC. It's been going on for weeks now, and with SNL doing three more live shows in a row before Christmas, NBC wasn't an option for a Saturday night family tradition that dates back to my teenage years, which also loves it. After researching all the options that would require another subscription to one service or another, I realized that NBC broadcasts locally in all major markets and is completely free, although heavily supported by advertising. Enter this antenna. I ordered it around 2pm on Saturday, it arrived at 8:45pm the same day, just in time for SNL! Assembly is easy and installation consists of simply plugging the working end of the antenna cable into my TV's coax input. The hardest part was figuring out how to put the tv in broadcast mode to receive over-the-air channels as all the inputs present are either internet or directtv, but once I figured it out it found over 60 channels, many of which including NBC, go into a crystal. clear in high definition. For $9 you can't beat this antenna. Maybe buy another one for a guest room that only has a firestick, because who pays a monthly fee for another cable box that just sits around unused most of the time?
