When it works, it's very cool. Especially with the Hue Sync Play light bar behind the TV. All the lights in the room are set up as an entertainment group. Hue Play's syncing app was very easy to use and setting up the lights was easy and intuitive. The app doesn't have many features, but in this case, simplicity is better and it gets the job done. I'm on my second set now because the first one failed and I hope it continues to work properly as it adds a new dimension to watching movies on TV. The only thing that really bothers me is that some content, some movies don't work with the sync box. A message appears informing you on the TV when you order a movie. Sounds like a copyright issue using light with film. This is an issue as more studios get smarter, they might charge more to watch these movies, or Hue strikes a deal with one or two studios and caps the amount of light visible. It seems to work with all Netflix movies. However, you're out of luck when it comes to live streaming from your smart TV. It needs to go from the cable box to the sync box, or you can plug a chrome cast or TiVo dongle into it and use it from there. Highly recommended, it can be quirky at times like all other technology.
