Review on Tokina 12Mm Autofocus Digital Cameras by Jeremy May

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good lens but very heavy

Have been using this lens for two years now. I use it on a Canon 40D digital SLR. It's sharp, but not as sharp as the equivalent Canon lens. It's very wide and is good for very wide, dramatic shots, but its focal range isn't wide enough that I don't want to keep switching lenses. The closest lens I have is the Canon 28-135mm and I switch between them all the time. The only real problem I have is that it's very heavy. much heavier than canon but much cheaper. If you can afford Canon I would definitely recommend Tokina. If not, and you don't mind the weight, then this isn't a bad choice.

Pros
  • Optimized for Canon DSLRs
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
