Review on Metabo HPT Pancake Compressor EC710S by Julio Roberts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great so far. for Brad Nails

I received this a few days ago so this is not a long term reliability rating. The supercharger is solid and looks well built, better than the 2002 Porter-Cable it replaces. The compressors are noisy, but it's smaller than a PC and vibrates a lot less. During operation, the PC moved across the smooth garage floor; it doesn't move at all. According to the gauge, the Metabo HPT idles for 3:06 from before shutting off at 145 psi. It restarts when the pressure drops to 115-120psi and runs for 43 seconds until full. I couldn't find any leaks and there was no drop in pressure in the 6 hours I left it full. The compressor hammered in 24 16 gx 2 1/2 (100 psi) finishing nails before restarting. It's 6-7 pounds heavier than PC at 36.5 pounds. The reservoir valve below is a brass 90 degree check valve. Much better than the steel rotary valve on the PC, which eventually rusted on the inside and then no longer opened at all. I will add an update if necessary. Update: 06/09/2021. Continues to work well with light use. Recent reviewers complain that it's noisy. Yes, but I think these reviewers are unrealistic. However, the company positions it as silent, but it is not. It is just as bad with Metabo HPT. For me, the noise level is acceptable, but for those who disagree, there are easy ways to mitigate the effects. Other brands of the same type are likely to be just as loud or louder. My porter cable was definitely louder and sharper. And when I look at different brands of 6 gallon pancakes like PC, Bostitch, Craftsman etc they all look the same. Simply sprayed in different colors and covered with stickers of different brands. I bet they are otherwise identical. Note that the cost is much higher now. I paid 119€ for mine. Now $179. I understand others may be more price conscious but I think it's still good value for money. I want it to be built in the US, but I can't control that. Otherwise I don't care where it was built as long as it works. This one does. My rating remains at 5 stars.
