You know Goldilocks. too hot, too cold, just right. too hard, too soft, just right. The same goes for this pillow! There are so many ways to place and customize it that one of them is the most appropriate. I was in the hospital for a week and my calves and feet were VERY swollen. I had no problems with this pillow - I was able to keep it elevated comfortably. I also have GERD and sometimes need to sleep on a raised platform - this pillow makes it easy! The seat and back can easily be accommodated with this cushion as a complete back support. I've found so many different ways to use it in different situations. THAT'S GREAT! As a humorous comment: when I first received it I was a little upset because the package seemed so small; I just knew it wouldn't be good. An autopsy revealed a fairly long tube covered with plastic wrap. All I knew when I cut it was that it wasn't going to be a large pillow. SURPRISE! He was pouty and very handsome and hard; What a great job of compressing and packaging!
