I took two zoom lenses with me on my trip to the ski resort: One was a 24-120 f/4 universal travel zoom and the other a 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 telezoom. All of these lenses feature advanced VR II image stabilization. At first I thought that the first lens would be more in demand, but when shooting skiers in motion directly, the 70-300 f / 4.5-5.6 lens turned out to be more convenient in terms of focal lengths. In addition, it was convenient for them to shoot distant objects of nature with the desired approximation, which in the sum of the received good shots amounted to about 40 - 45%. And for the rest of landscape and artistic shooting, as expected, the 24-120 f / 4 zoom turned out to be more convenient in its range of focal lengths, with a possible transition in 1.5 crop mode with the equivalent of focal lengths of 36-180 mm. They could also shoot skiers in motion, but not as comfortable as a special tele-zoom lens of 70-300 mm (in crop mode 1.5, the equivalent was 105-450 mm). Therefore, it was possible to take a whole series of pictures in the course of the skier's movement along the descent route. With shorter zooms, this action cannot be carried out, since the subject quickly passes a convenient focus area for optimal shooting.
