Inexpensive universal USB stick. But it works!

== Summary ==- Legitimate size (not fake) - Cheap and versatile - Slow but useful - Works as a utility drive. OS installation, memtest, recovery disk, etc. == Technical error == This flash drive is the literal definition of generic. In fact, it advertises itself as a universal drive**. If you dig a little, you'll find a FirstChip FC1178BC controller inside. This is a flash controller, synonymous with fake flash drives. It's cheap and can be reprogrammed to report any size you want. In this case, however, it is coupled to an appropriately sized flash memory. I checked the drives with FakeFlashTest and no errors are reported. it appears to be legal. Flash also reports that the SanDisk TLC works as a single channel; and its performance is about what you would expect from a low cost controller and single channel TLC. The sequential performance is 19.5 MB/s and 14 MB/s for reading and writing. With sufficient reading 4k from 2.3 to 3.4 MB / s; that's 579 to 850 operations per second. Surprisingly, the read speed of a spinning hard drive is around 4k. Reported CDM number during recording is disabled; unfortunately we can't see what it does in the short package. It seems to hit 2-4 IOps, making it completely useless for continuous 4k recording. However, batch writing is significantly faster, so writing several hundred KB files in 4 KB format seems practical. Fortunately, the low performance is matched by the same low power consumption and temperatures. The drive draws less than 100mA during operation and stays cool during use. The thermal camera shows the drive hitting 91F, just a few degrees warmer than my laptop. **A notice. The manufacturer string is "VendorCo" and the model name is "ProductCode".
