Beautiful Snowscape for Christmas Display Cases

later My wife and I have set up an elaborate rustic Christmas scene on our very wide mantel every year for decades, and sometimes we need some fresh "snow" to base the scene on. We usually buy this from big stores near us before the holiday season, but we saw this product stocked at Revain and decided to give it a try this year. First, the price is reasonable. It's about how much we usually pay when we buy fresh snow. Second, it comes in a compressed plastic bag folded into a rectangle. We are used to buying "snow" in rolls so that there are no wrinkles. But we're happy to report that it unfolded easily and, to our surprise, didn't have any creases to worry about. This is a set of "snow" cover "medium thickness". Over the years we have purchased both much thinner and much thicker film. In general, this is the average thickness. What does this mean for those of us who created these scenes? Two things: opacity and the ability to put small figures on the "snow". The advantage of a thinner surface is that the characters stand more easily on a thinner surface. The fatter you get, the harder it becomes to get these tiny figures to stand up straight. We've found that most of our figures stand easily at this thickness. Of course we have a few small, light figures that we needed to position with some extra support, but overall it's a good, even thickness. What we love about this product and why we give it 5 stars again is that it has pretty good coverage too. That means if you're covering a surface, or in our case also covering another material that we use to approximate 'mountains', you don't want the base material to show through in an obvious way. And we are very happy with the opacity of this coating. We believe this product strikes a good balance between the need for a stable surface and the need for a single sheet to visually 'hide' the underlying material. Another tip, before ordering, measure the area you want to cover and then compare it to the size of that cover listed on the product page. If you have a fairly large area to cover, you might be surprised at how much you need. Measuring before ordering will determine if one pack is right for you or if you would like two. We would be happy to recommend these to you.
