Review on Sennheiser PXC 480 Noise Canceling Headphones by Susan Lautner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Perfect for the audio frequent flyers among us.

This is a very reliable headphone that makes flying more comfortable. The design is great for travel with a compact case and 2-prong adapter for select in-flight entertainment systems. The built-in USB lithium battery is a godsend compared to older versions of AAA batteries. The sound quality is excellent, although the maximum volume is a bit low in my experience. Noise-cancellation is excellent, with significant impact on engine and cabin noise, but don't expect complete silence, that's not going to happen (no noise-cancelling headphones, IMO). In general, a solid set of cans, really only justified for air and train travel. Pros: - Very handy hour after hour. - Excellent noise reduction makes music and movies much more enjoyable in flight. - Lithium battery provides 50 hours without charging. - The price is good. Value, especially when compared to the wireless 550 model. - Includes holdall. Cons: - Noise cancellation could be stronger, really only needed when used without music/audio. - The travel case could be stiffer for better protection, but that's not a problem so far. The function is absolutely useless, when using it, the noise actually increases and people cannot be heard. Just a terrible execution of a good idea.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Almost never
