Review on Camco Residential Screw Heater Element Rough Plumbing by Derrick Kadam

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Very troublesome tool - water heater and parts

First of all, wear gloves so you don't rip your hands on the sharp sheet metal like I did. A few problems. First, the key isn't very tight against the element - there are some knocks. Second, as soon as you press the key and try to turn it, it will bounce off the element. This is the part where you cut your hands. This is partly because of the loose fit and partly because the key needs to be a few inches longer to give your hands some clearance. The screwdriver hole is quite small and you won't be able to fit most of the screwdriver through it. Here's how I ended up doing it: After attaching the wrench to the element, my friend pushed the end of the wrench (towards the water heater) with a 2x4 piece. This prevented him from slipping. At the same time, I dropped the screwdriver and placed a large pipe wrench on the wrench body. I pulled the old element - no thanks Camco.
