Got this as a birthday present for my partner who is a fan of anything pickled. When a fork works just as well to get those elusive pickles into the bottom of a giant Costco pickle/olive jar, isn't it a bit unnecessary? Yes. But is it more fun to use a tool that resembles arcade scratching posts? Absolutely. I didn't spend money on a more expensive/more attractive (/more durable?) cucumber grip as the product is immaterial. When you press the plunger, which looks like a syringe, the claw comes out of the detachable part of the tube. I believe it is removed for deep cleaning (joke on the manufacturer. We just wash it). Yes, it would be great if the cap were more snug or screwed tightly to the larger main element, but that's not the case. it's also free. It would be nice if the colors didn't look so cheap. You get what you pay for so I'm happy.
