I have had this blanket for two years now and it is often around 80 degrees F inside my home during the summer. I have noticed that once it reaches near 80 degrees the blanket no longer has a cooling effect and just acts as a regular blanket. My theory on this is that it doesn't cool me down because the external temperature is high enough that the heat the blanket pulls from my body has no where to diffuse and so it just holds on to it like a normal blanket would. On the flip side if it's, let's say 75 degrees, and I use this blanket (My other blanket is a thick blanket I use for the other seasons), I end up shivering and very cold by the middle of the night but comfortable without the blanket on. I have also noticed it will cool better if you tuck yourself in so the blanket is making contact with your skin.So obviously the blanket does cool however, it seems as though it has an upper limit on how hot the external environment can be before it is rendered useless (In regards to cooling)
