I ended up returning this Crosley Cruiser player and replacing it with an Audio Technica AT-LP120. After reading the reviews online I still wanted to give it a try but found that most of the reviews were true - it's a cool toy for teens but if you value your vinyl (and you should, given the money you've spent on it ) Whether you're a beginner or a serious collector, don't jeopardize your vinyl records by playing them on these cool looking plastic toys. I recommend watching "Vinyl Eyezz" YouTube video called "Record Player: Crosley - Top 5 Reasons NOT to Buy!" as he goes into much more effective detail than I did.
