I ended up returning this Crosley Cruiser player and replacing it with an Audio Technica AT-LP120. After reading the reviews online I still wanted to give it a try but found that most of the reviews were true - it's a cool toy for teens but if you value your vinyl (and you should, given the money you've spent on it ) Whether you're a beginner or a serious collector, don't jeopardize your vinyl records by playing them on these cool looking plastic toys. The hatred for this product on the internet is unreal. You've got the audiophiles saying it sounds awful and the privileged folk saying you need to buy an expensive turntable with great sounding speakers, preamps and a million other things. Does the player have terrible built-in speakers? Yes, that's right. Are there better turntables? Yes obviously. If I could go and spend hundreds of dollars on a turntable, I would.
