Is not recognized by cricut maker as a 12 x 24 mat

Thr cut dimensions are 12x24 but the actual mat is not as long as a cricut cutting mat. so when I am making a full mat project, design space measures the mat and says this is not a big enough mat.Even when making the project smaller, design space won't use it.Kind of a waste if I'm just going to have to get a different mat
