This stand is strong and stable. I bought it because it stands much higher than other tripods - I needed something that is about 8 inches tall for everyday work and then can be raised a few inches higher when I'm on a hangout and my camera is right at eye level would like to have . Most stands have a maximum width of about 6 or 7 inches or are too flimsy to securely support my company laptop. This stand is a bit more expensive but fits the bill perfectly. Some of these require some force to adjust, which I wouldn't do with my laptop on them, but I've found I can adjust the "Multiple Heights" setting when my laptop is on it, which takes it from my normal working height to height. I want for video calls. My biggest complaint is that this multi-level height adjustment can be a bit finicky when clicking on a specific spot. But I usually set it to be fully inserted or fully retracted and both snap easily so this works for me.
