For this price range, the value is simply unbeatable. Yes, if you're willing to shell out $100 for it, there are much better devices out there. The cage itself is very durable. The trays aren't too bad but I can see where some of the complaints are coming from. Just don't hold it in your hands, squeeze the tabs together and then pull it out and it won't break. This device is truly amazing for the price. I use this for a number of backup drives on my Media Center PC that also acts as a server and the two drives here in this unit are my document backups for my machines around the house. However, I don't mirror them, just use a one-way sync utility. You can create any type of software raid you like as long as your operating system supports it. Another thing that reviews mention is the speed ratings on SATA ports. It's just because the packaging doesn't match. Since these are pass-through connectors, your speed rating will depend on what device/motherboard you're plugging into both ends, much like the cable itself. The price really won me over. , just be careful with the trays. However, if you break one, you can go to Newegg and just buy replacement trays. I think they cost $4 so it's cheaper than a brand new device.
