I have a 2 letter box and don't need one of the switches so I removed it. Instead of opening the rocker switch on one side and the plug on the other, just slide the switch to the middle and install it. Voila. looks perfect Now the tricky part is to fix the switch in the middle of the box with two switches since there are no screw holes in the middle of the box. Be creative. I found a way to attach the switch with a screw in one of the switch's "ears" at the top and bottom where it meets the drywall. You can tilt the screw - everything works. I've only found this Leviton metal cover that turns from 2 junction boxes into one and closes the box; I couldn't find any other, although I actually wanted white plastic. So I drew it.
