The part between the metal parts is plastic. Maybe to break on impact to save your phone but mine broke when my bike just fell off without hitting the phone or the mount. I have issued a refund and replacement. Came the next day and it's still thin. Bumps have never loosened it, but I can only turn it one way or the screw will come loose and goodbye phone. Please contact me if I'm doing something wrong. I have ordered two different mounts (not this one) and will return these if they don't fit me. BTW, this mount is for the 575 mile bike ride I have planned. I lose my phone and it's over. A set screw to lock the rotation might be a good idea.?
