Review on πŸ”ͺ KONOLL 8-Inch Pro Serrated Bread Knife - Forged High Carbon Steel Cake Slicing Cutter - Thunder-K Series by Paula Oster

Revainrating 2 out of 5

decent metal composition, very heavy, chunky handle, made in China

Let's start with what's good about this KONOLL bread knife. The metal used is suitable. 5Cr15 is an economical stainless steel with good corrosion resistance due to its high chromium content. It's relatively easy to sharpen, but on the other hand, serrated knives are more difficult for the home cook to sharpen than regular straight-edged chef's knives. The knife is very sharp and ready to use. What's happening? It's partly a matter of taste, but I hate design. I'd rather use any other cheap serrated knife in my kitchen. It's unusually heavy, the grip is thick and chunky, and the balance feels off, very heavy for a grip. The blade itself also seems unnecessarily thick. The result is a heavy knife that will quickly strain your wrist when sawing through a lot of bread or other food with some resistance. the blade as it is for appearance only and does not indicate that the metal was actually hand forged. I think he's trying too hard to look cool. It is made in China.
