This is not a high end camera and it updates constantly which takes about 3 seconds. The FLIR software doesn't work on a Mac, so I had to change the settings on someone else's computer. That's easy. It also doesn't come with a retractable lanyard and unfortunately the one I bought isn't strong enough to hold it tightly to my gear so it bounces around. I bought it for firefighting because my employer doesn't want to buy batteries for our 10+ year old Scott Eagle so I bought it for myself because the TIC is an invaluable tool in my job. I couldn't afford a premium model for the money I'm getting, but I hope this model works well. It has a rubber flap on the top of the device to access a few things and I can see it being ripped off as it doesn't seem to stay closed. I hope water doesn't get in and damage it. I know this unit is meant to be entry level, but I think I was hoping for something more firefighting oriented. It's either that or Scott's SCBA mask, which was released this year. It does require a lot of batteries though and since I seem to use 3 AAA batteries a week with a dumb SCOTT voice transmitter I didn't want to spend that much money on something that would cost me 10 times as much to keep changing batteries.. If you have one have a small department that can't get a lot of money for the best model and you don't have a lot of fires I think this one will work just fine. Our department is near Detroit, which has a lot of fires, so I think we'll see how it goes next year. FLIR makes amazing products and is at the forefront of TI, although this product has yet to meet my expectations. I wrote this review because I didn't see any reviews on this model before purchasing it. there for sure.
