Bought as my "good" dinner set a year ago. Heavy glazed earthenware. The plate is the best - a large plate, well insulated and heavy. The bowls are big too. However, the small plates are very small, and the square cups are also small, barely holding 8 ounces of coffee. While the icing is strong - I've been using and rinsing these plates every day for a year - I noticed something that other customers have noticed. I have at least 3 pieces with chips. Porcelain stoneware under glaze looks like sand. The other day my son dropped his plate and of course it broke. Since I need to replace the set, I'm making it for something more durable (my everyday Corelle set hasn't broke or anything - its thinness, however, transfers a lot of heat, otherwise I'd use it exclusively) and more functional. It was attractive, but only good.
