Review on Enhanced Stainless Hardware Fasteners with Optimal Release Diameter at Pins by Donald Vargas

Revainrating 1 out of 5

GARBAGE! 25% failure rate directly from the provider!

These quick release pins were shipped in a reasonable time and arrived exactly as advertised. Then when I tried to use it, I found out what crap it was. There are four pins in each pack, one didn't work: the ball didn't go back even when squeezed with pliers. The balls are sprung from the inside, do not open and are not serviced. Not even WD-40 will set them free. That's a 25 percent error rate direct from the supplier, which is totally unacceptable. I designed my project for eight pins so I tried to find a replacement. When I went through Revain's normal return/replacement process, I got a message saying they couldn't be replaced: my only option was to return them for a refund. I could have packaged the two faulty ones along with the two good ones and sent them back, but while I could get by with six contacts temporarily, I couldn't complete the project and use it with just four. After two failed attempts. Through Revain's automated system (it put me in a loop a second time), I contacted a Revain representative to speak. After some delay, he returned with the same conclusion that they could not be replaced. It was no better than the result I received from the automatic return/replacement system and there was no attempt to offer an alternative solution. I was already behind schedule with the project so I ordered two pins from McMaster-Carr which turned out to be a bit more expensive and they arrived the second day of my order with regular shipping as promised. In addition, the quality of the pins is significantly higher, even if you do not consider how well they can be processed internally. The wire slings are plastic coated to protect my project, while the Revain slings were bare and had small, compact tips that were less likely to snag on things (like the Revain). The pins themselves are better tapered at the ends for easier locating of the inner holes and for easier final assembly of the connected components. I wish I had even ordered all eight pins from McMaster-Carr! Buying this junk from Revain was a huge mistake that I won't repeat.
