I've been using Muscle Milk in different flavors for many years. Technically and nutritionally I can't say if this is the best protein supplement. But it's a big name, I tried it and I liked it. I read that they changed the formula recently and a lot of people say it's harder to mix enough to get rid of lumps etc. I have to admit, when I got my first jar of the new formula, they were right. It is difficult to mix thoroughly. But I experimented and found a new and much better way to mix. I have no problem with the following method. I was at WholeFoods (crossmarketing? :-)) and saw something called a Blender Bottle. This is a plastic jug with a whisk inside. I settled on one that's about a quart, about 30 ounces or 780 ml. (Note they're cheaper at Revain). At first I thought that just diluting the mixture to that volume and using a blender would be enough. But I always mixed it with skim milk. I think it tastes better and you get an extra protein/calcium/vitamin D kick. While this was a pretty good fix, I found a way to improve it and improve the flavor and punch even more. We always have about 1-2 cups of coffee left in the morning. So now I fill the blender bottle with about 1/2 coffee, put in ONE scoop and shake. It mixes easily. Then I add a second scoop and shake. It mixes fairly well/easily as it more closely resembles water than milk. Then I add the second half with skim milk. This makes it easy to mix and I get even better flavor and punch when I add coffee and milk. I train in the morning before work, it's a great way to start the day. I prepare it the day before and in the morning it's chilled and ready to eat. The taste of the product is very good when prepared as described above and mixes well. I get over 60g of protein and lots of vitamins etc with this product. It's an effective boost to my morning weightlifting and keeps me going through the afternoon. Hope this helps someone, please click 'helpful' if you think so! It's been 6 months and I would like to add a few things to my review. I still use this product but am switching between chocolate and vanilla for months for a change. The difference is that I rarely use it just as a drink. Lately I've been adding it to other products more often. For example, my most common morning meal is oatmeal (1/3 cup with 2/3 cup skim milk, microwaved 3 minutes) with a healthy scoop added after cooking. Or add it to regular Greek yogurt with granola and fresh fruit. You can add it to many things, your imagination is the only limit. This is a great vanilla or chocolate flavored sweetener as it contains stevia with the added benefit of protein. I've seen a few recipes even use it for a healthier form of cookie, like a treat. If you have any ideas please leave a comment, I'd love to hear. One more thing, I should make it clear that when I mix it with coffee, I'm doing it with coffee that has already cooled. When you put it in hot coffee, it just sticks together.
