Review on Lilliput A12 12 5 Monitor 3840X2160 by John Bailey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Insanely shiny, wish it was brighter

It's big and attaches well to the rotating C-pillar. I actually run it with the 1st AC monitor mounted on the opposite side of the stand. You definitely need a hood to use this monitor outdoors. And I don't mean the little three-sided sun visor that comes with the kit, I mean the old-school photographer's black cape that covers your entire head and shoulders underneath. It's no fun when it's hot outside. Other complaints: 1. The cable for the V-mount adapter is too short or at least attached in the wrong direction, so the cable keeps kinking badly and trying to detach. The included lens hood attaches with 1/4-20 thumbscrews that are easy to lose. Fortunately, most people's AKS kits have a lot more of these. But to be honest, velcro would probably be better.3. The included ball mount is just ridiculous. Buy a small camera tripod ball mount with a small Arca Swiss QR plate. Smallrig makes a great monitor that is also available from Revain at a very reasonable price. Those minor complaints aside, I really like this monitor, as do most directors who watch it, and my 1st AC no longer has to share it with directors, advertisers, HMUAs, writers, producers, and their kids. Great find: the Nanuk 910 hard case is perfect for this monitor and not too expensive for Revain!
