To easily attach the nut (I have a Road King), I threaded the rope through the hole in the fender where I wanted the nut. Once the cord was through the rear wheel, I threaded it through the hole in the nut and tied a large nut to the end of the cord. This allowed me to pull the nut up and then through the fender to seat it properly. super easy.
