I'm a pretty thin guy: 6 foot, 150 lbs and lean. Suffice to say I have a bit of breathing room in the average size 32 waist shorts/pants. Usually not enough to need a belt, but I order size 32 in case of weight fluctuation or large fits, etc, which is what I ordered here. However I woefully underestimated the cut of these shorts. They run very small. This is the snuggest 32 waist I've ever been in. Forget about it if you have hips, any level of athletic build or need a bit of extra room in the crotch. Go at least size larger than you'd normally go with these or pass on them completely, because they are not comfortable at the size I typically wear.That said the seem well made, but I'd be hesitant to do anything too active or strenuous in them like hiking because of the snug cut. Color seems a hair darker than pictured, but it's a negligible difference.
