Review on Spectra Premium TD44 Distributor by Jeff Rubio

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent replacement distributor for Honda/Acura. (It only took 8 months to update.)

Good replacement distributor for my Integra GSR. I went straight in and reused my recently replaced Bosch 3306, 4278 distributor caps and rotor. This is a Spectra TD-44 and is compatible with many Honda/Acura vehicles. Interestingly, the cap on the GSR is smaller than the OEM. So you wouldn't buy an OEM part designed for the GSR. My original failed after 11 years, then the second only after 4 years, then the third began to deteriorate after about 5-6 years, now on the 4th distributor. Wow! I wish I could see the symptoms of small misfires and black soot coming out of the tailpipe. Now it works great, with good performance. I am actually replacing it again in 5 years as a preventive measure. Update from 07/18/2020! Well, maybe I spoke too soon. I was at the market yesterday and the distributor started to skip and there was a big loss of power. Luckily it didn't stop and I was able to hobble home. This was after a short 15 minute freeway ride at around 4,000rpm. That's after 8 months of mostly city driving. So far the distributor has worked very well and I had confidence in him! I will contact the supplier but these dealers do so intermittently when they are down and only act when hot. (Fuse starts to skip.) I have years of experience with this. The OEM version failed after 10 years, the aftermarket lasts about 5 years and this Spectra is only 8 months old. I have new Denso spark plugs and NGK spark plug wires. I don't think I should replace the wires, but I will do so with a new distributor just in case.
