My work Dell only has one USB-C port, but I have a number of regular Dell power adapters, so I used them to boot the laptop and free up the USB-C port. It works fine with that and takes a lot less space on the desk. I had a 1366x768 USB display which I never considered. It's bigger, better angles, higher resolution and a much better display overall. I tried it on my Acer Chromebooks and it didn't recognize the display when I first got it and it does, but now it does. It also works with my Lenovo Yoga 720.
