Review on 🎧 Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E8 3rd Gen True Wireless Earphones - Black | Touch Control, Microphones, Wireless Charging | 35-Hr Playtime by Jeannie Story

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great sound, decent performance.

I bought them to upgrade from the original first generation Beoplay E8s. Sound: Bang and Olufsen makes products that sound great. They shouldn't disappoint in terms of quality. However, if the sound out of the box doesn't appeal to you, they offer an additional app that allows you to fine-tune the sound to your liking. These headphones don't have active noise cancellation (ANC), which is a bummer for the price. Having used them I can't say it's a deal breaker as the earbuds offer very good sound isolation once you find the right fit. In general, the sound quality here is excellent. If I had one major complaint, it would be that these headphones don't get any louder. Design: Since the first generation, the design has been greatly improved. The case is large and looks very classy thanks to the beveled aluminum edges and the leather look. The earbuds themselves are smaller and more powerful than previous models. In short, they're not big and they're a lot better looking than most. Features: The most improved feature is the transparency mode. Some reviewers claim that the transparency mode is no different from the previous model. That's not the case, however, as you'll have to go into the app to set it up the way you want it. Once this is done, the transparency mode works much better. Compared to the previous model, it sounds much more natural and you can still hear music when it's on. The transparency mode actually shows that the passive noise cancellation is very good. External noise, which you hear after turning on the transparency, disappears completely after turning it off. One of the biggest complaints I see about these headphones is that they still work in slave/master mode. This means the right earbud is always dominant and must be removed from the case for the left to work. Keep in mind that the addition of Bluetooth 5 has actually made the required distance between two earbuds a much less of an issue. If you wanted, you could share the headphones with someone else and there would be no problem. You still just have to use the right one if you only want one earbud. Another important improvement concerns the quality of communication. Each earbud features an additional microphone, bringing the total number of earbuds in the set to four. The additional microphones definitely make a difference as no one I spoke to could hear me. If someone complains about the quality of the connection in the reviews, they may not have placed the headphones correctly in their ears. This could potentially cover one of the microphones. In general, competitors (for various reasons) usually have a better feature set, so you'll have to decide if they meet your basic needs. Battery: These headphones really excel in terms of battery life. In the month I've had them (only charged once), they haven't died after moderate daily use. The case supports wireless charging and there is a USB-C port on the back. Their battery life claims are rarely accurate, but they're not here. They claim that the headphones will work for 7 hours without charging and 35 hours after being charged through the case. I can trust these numbers due to personal use. In short, these headphones are aimed at people who value sound quality and design. The battery life is incredible and they have a decent list of features that make them an option worth considering. This is a luxury brand and you ultimately have to decide if the luxury aspect is important to you.
