I've been using purple shampoos, conditioners and toners for almost 20 years, so I've tried quite a few. I lighten my hair platinum at home and have naturally brunette hair. I finally found a bleach I can get at a regular department store that works, then I'm going to use a box toner to remove the brass. Then when the box wears off or I use shampoos and balms regularly. Before that I used salon quality whitening products. (I'll still use salon-grade bleach if I want to apply highlights.) In fact, this is a very large, air-conditioned container. The price around $60 seemed a lot to me, but once I saw how big the container was it would make a world of difference. I've actually never had such a large can of hair care products, so there's quite a lot here. You don't need that much either, and I've drenched my mid-back hair without using too much, then brushed it out with a shower comb. I let it sit for a few minutes (probably around 3 minutes) and then washed it off. I didn't want to use any other nourishing products to see how they hydrated my skin. It's quite moisturizing, which isn't typical even for purple conditioners. It's not surprisingly conditional, but it's conditional. But the conditioning texture is different and hard to describe. It's not a super soft smooth state, it's kind of a smooth and textured state. It's a bit thicker and definitely looks like a mask. Make sure you actually brush it so it activates on your hair. You'll also need to rinse it out more often than your regular conditioner, otherwise you might get out of the shower and find your hair is stained. Once my hair was dry I saw that they did a good job of removing brass. The second time there were even more. My bangs are almost a full platinum color with hints of lavender. But it wasn't enough to make it look purple, it just looked like ash platinum. If I use it again I will try to avoid this area as it is the lightest and the brass is usually in the top root area. Another thing I like to do with purple conditioners is that as soon as I apply them to my hair, I add my favorite conditioner to get a little extra moisture while it's in it. This works for me and I appreciate it.
