Review on 🚽 Camco 40123 Quickie Flush: Prevent Backflow and Ensure Effective Cleaning by Paul Barnes

After reading rave reviews and trying to clean the tank from inside the trailer I decided I needed 2 of these. One for the black tank and one for the gray tank. For the money, this is one of the biggest upgrades you can make to any RV. However, I highly recommend crawling under your RV to see if there are any easily accessible mounting points before purchasing, as you will need to use a hole saw to cut through the tank. Good: They work great! I have a clear outlet adapter so I can see the "things" coming out of my supposedly clean tank that have been there for who knows how long. I installed a Black Tank Flusher on the opposite end of the outlet. I installed the gray tank at the same end as the drain as that was the only place to go. Both of my tanks have stepped sides so they weren't a good option as the "step" would get in the way of the spray pattern. Overall, this is one of the best supplements I've made. Installation was fairly easy, but unless you like perfect work in tight spaces, or don't like drilling a hole in the same tank that poop splatters into, it might be better to have someone install it. I spent about 1 1/2 hours finding and fixing leaks. Bad: Both leaked at the end of the valve. At first I tried changing the hose fitting gasket and tightening it with pliers, but then I found that water was pouring out of the valve itself! This was pretty easy to fix once I figured it out, but it really shouldn't be happening with a brand new product that's meant to be hooked up to a waste water tank. Complete all of the following steps before installing! There is a 3/8" hex socket in the female hose connection on the check valve. Take a hex wrench and unscrew the inner valve. On the threads find a couple of turns of teflon tape which should have sealed the threads. . Remove all Trace tape and apply a good pipe paste to the threads (I used RectorSeal T plus 2 - Home Depot) and reinstall the valve, do not over tighten as these are plastic parts and use a 3/8" hex wrench handles. can apply a lot of torque! After retesting, I still had to use pliers to tighten the hose connection and also re-tighten the clamp on the clear hose. Now everything is dry. Even dripping! Another review I read, recommends connecting a hose to the valve before installation so you can see the spray pattern, it is not necessary and did not show me in advance that the streams were leaked. But it's pretty cool to see how much these nozzles are really spraying into your tank! And in my case, attaching them to the sides of my tank showed me that I would disrupt the spray pattern and make them less effective.
