Maybe others will have better luck than me. I got the scrap by buying "remanufactured" as new. The seller was listed as Tool King; however, he denied any direct involvement. Deal with it. Anyway, I paid another $100 for a brand new unit after receiving and returning the refurbished junk. Please note that brand new units come with a large pre-engineered floor leg, 1/2", 5/8" and 3/4" (white) base plates, two hex keys and an instruction manual. Of course if you know what You do (carefully), you don't necessarily need the foot ready, but it serves a very useful purpose if you like it. -n-smack". But more importantly, the precast foot of the floor works against the tongue of the plank to spread the force over a much larger surface area compared to the much smaller area of the precast edge if you don't. Use a pre-made foot. The bottom line is that the foot helps prevent damage to the pre-made edge if you hit too hard and closes aggressive board gaps. I tested this by hitting it hard with the pre-treated foot and I didn't notice any damage to the pre-treated edge. If I were to do this without the pre-treated foot I'm pretty sure it would damage the red oak to use with who i work Air conditioned units (at least the ones sent to me) do not come with a pre-made leg. So expect to pay at least another $50 for this accessory unless you're buying a brand new one. In fact, I'm not sure you'll save much by buying a Recon over a new one. Considering you might be shocked at the condition of a factory refurbished unit like the one they sent me. So why take the risk and waste time - for what to save $50? After all, this brand new device looks and works just as good as any I've ever used. Despite the bulky pre-made base that doesn't fit into tight spaces as easily as without, this is a great tool. And Bostic, when you package remanufactured junk in such a way that annoyed and frustrated people buy brand new, well, it worked for me. I was very disappointed with the first transaction to return this used and abused BLEEP! However, this deal fared better and the new 5 star stapler is excellent.
