I bought this as a replacement for a 400 GPH pump for the small waterfall in my 250 gallon landscape pond. I developed a hole in my old pond liner, and the pond emptied and the old pump burned out before I noticed. The output from the old pump wasn't enough for my satisfaction, so I saw the opportunity to upgrade. This pump does effectively double the output, although it's still less than I expected when the rise is barely 1 foot. The pump makes no noticeable noise or vibration, and physically looks and feels like many of the other pumps I've used over the years. For the price I don't expect this to last forever, but I suspect it will serve my needs for several years as long as the pond doesn't empty. This pump does NOT include an automatic shutoff when the water level is too low.
