Review on Effortless Stitching and Quilting with the JUKI TL-2000Qi Machine by Barbara Simmons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Overall excellent but not for a new channel with no patience. . .

While I really like this machine I can easily see this machine is going to get bad reviews, it's not plug and play, drop the reel and get started. If you need plug and play, save yourself the headache and buy the Singer HD 4423 for $126. Of course, after about 2-3 years you will end up ending up the Singer in the landfill as it won't last long if you use it mostly for heavy projects. There is a learning curve with the Tl-2000Qi/2010Qi and a few things MUST happen before this machine will work as intended. First, this is a full looper machine and the upper thread tension and bobbin tension (set manually on the bobbin case) must be accurate or the machine will not sew correctly. Second, the needle must be appropriate for the job. Third, the sewing foot must be adjusted to move the fabric appropriately without binding or slipping. After typing, it sews like a dream. I use mine for upholstery and canvas/sunglasses and so far it's excellent. He sews through nine layers of sun protection fabric with the right needle without groaning or grumbling. You should have several bobbin cases when using different bobbin thread sizes to avoid constantly adjusting the bobbin thread tension. There are also so many "versions" of this machine at different prices that look pretty much the same. Brother, Viking, Janome, Babylok, Singer, they all have a version of this machine. They are NOT the same inside, trust me I checked. Juki is by far the best made, both inside and out. A parts list for all the different clones is available with a quick Google search. I encourage you to search for yourself and confirm the facts I have discovered. This Juki Tl-2000Qi has (6) oil ports. Most new cars don't have them. Also, this machine is NOT a manual machine with no computer parts or sensors to fail, in fact there are many. I just hope they last and are as solidly built as the mechanical aspects of this machine's design. In conclusion, I recommend this machine to anyone looking for a really heavy-duty straight stitch machine for less than $1,000.
