Review on 🔪 7-Inch Victorinox Swiss Army Cutlery Fibrox Pro Santoku Knife with Granton Edge by Jacob Thorson

Santoku is my favorite style of knife. I'm not going to talk about knife style, but rather compare the average Victornox knife to low and high end knives in the Santoku category. I've found that there are generally 3 main price ranges for santoku knives: $20, $40, and $100. I have the following Santoku knives from each $20 category - Chicago Cutlery & Kleve; $40 - Victorinox; $100- Avoid. Summary/Conclusion: This Victorinox knife is probably the best choice for most people and by far the best value for money of any knife out there. I have bought this knife several times as gifts for friends who I knew would appreciate and respect a good kitchen knife. This Victorinox has an excellent blade, but in my opinion it doesn't feel very comfortable in the hand due to what appears to be a weak handle (although it seems weak, it's actually of high quality). I prefer a heavy knife. I'm not saying the Victorinox is badly balanced, but overall it's a light knife, which isn't necessarily a disadvantage, but an advantage. Many people don't mind or even prefer a light knife, but I find it cheap and not that fun to cut. High Quality Knife: My high quality knife is the $100 Santoku. The blade is probably very similar or even equal to the Victorinox, but the handle is fuller and heavier and feels much better in my hand. In my opinion, the weight makes the haircut easier. Other than that, I definitely like this knife, but it's no better than the Victorinox by $60. This feeling, which I prefer, comes with a high premium. Inexpensive knives: Inexpensive knives can be a gamble - Case 2: Case #1) I recently bought a Kleve Santoku. The weight of this knife seems heavy, but the blade itself was rubbish in my opinion. Cutting with this knife is not comfortable at all. I sent it back quickly. Case #2) I was gifted a set of Chicago Cutlery knives about 10 years ago. The santoku knife in this set is amazing and back then it could be bought separately for $20. The thing is, I didn't realize how great this knife was until I got both the Shun and Victorinox. I prefer Shun first, then Chicago, and finally Victorinox. They are all fantastic knives. I guess what I'm trying to say with these different scenarios is that you can't judge a knife by its price.
