Umm where do I start. I needed so many red rose petals to cover the studio floor. You could see the ground, but I needed a lot of rose petals. I chose 9,000 of these rose petals as the best price. Read all the reviews, prepare for the awful smell and the time it would take to separate all 9,000 petals. These are value sacrifices, be aware of this when purchasing. They arrived quickly and I was surprised at how compact the packaging was. I remember looking at a pack they said is it 3k petals? The smell, yes the smell is TERRIBLE! Even my cats thought it smelled like it was made in a fish factory. I figured if I took the time to wash the petals with fabric softener while they were being separated it would eliminate some if not most of the smell. I also figured if I let them air dry with fans for a day and then aired them out for a full week the smell would dissipate. Guys, I was wrong, very wrong. I opened packets of 9,000 petals the day I needed them in the tightest of spaces, and they smelled just as bad as when I first opened the packet. If you can tolerate perfume sprays or drying towels, try using them to (hopefully) get rid of the odor. Someone suggested putting the petals in a large bag of drying paper and shaking the bag several times a day. I'm allergic to dryer sheets so I didn't get to try this. Another component of the smell is that you have to admit that it is probably some kind of chemical. If you are sensitive to these things or could be pregnant I would be cautious. When we used these petals we had a pregnant woman in the studio and I wouldn't let her touch them at all. It took me about an hour for the packaging to separate all the petals. In total it took me about 3 hours plus the time to dry and turn the petals to "process" all 9k petals. If I had to do it all over again I would still wash all of the petals but consider adding fragrance or oil to the water when I wash them. I would also try spraying them with Febreeze. Also, be prepared for those petals to fall off. They are starting to tear at the edges and you will find red threads everywhere. So in the end yes, these things will stink no matter what you do. And I firmly believe that the reviewers who claimed the smell ruined their sex date. I understand. I had to explain a lot to everyone in the studio the day I used them. But are they the best value for money yes very smelly yes.
