I would not recommend this item for cats under 8-10 pounds or multiple cats. I wouldn't recommend a clay based spatula either. I originally bought this because I was looking for an alternative to an open tray to shoo the dog (didn't work. Chihuahuas are stubborn!). While very functional and aesthetically pleasing, it's quite small inside and doesn't hold a lot of junk. If you overfill the pan, there will be a mess inside. For this reason, I don't recommend a clumping litter and recommend an alternative litter that absorbs urine, like Fresh Step Crystals or Pretty Litter. In my experience (it's been a few months now) it falls out of the box if there is too much padding. Tracking has been reduced with a built-in screen that the cat passes through when boarding and exiting. It was a pretty easy transition from one box to the other. She is a shy cat and does not like change, but has easily adapted to the aviary. Cleaning is easy. You just open the front and everything is there. There is a small compartment for bags and a shovel conveniently placed on the side. The magnets hold well and it never opened unless a dog got in there. The cat can easily zoom in and out as usual. She's closer to 12 pounds so I feel like the throw to throw ratio is a bit lean. She likes lots of junk to play around with. Overall I would rate it 7/10 as it is durable, easy to clean and comes with accessories. It has beautiful aesthetics. Unfortunately, Revain doesn't have blush.
