Review on 🎡 Crosley Silver Belt-Drive Turntable C100A-SI with S-Shaped Tone Arm: Adjustable Counterweight for Optimum Performance by Ryan Turner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Performance is ideal when the Stamina system is fitted

Tonearm does not automatically return after play as professional turntables with a live disc jockey do not require this feature as the DJ is constantly dialing the tonearm , to change the plate - In fact, this automatic function really gets in the way. A few years ago I had an electrician turn off two nice little Panasonics I got from JC Penney because it was a pain in the ass. Even at home I grab my needle and put the record away before it gets on the label. I think belt drive or direct is personal preference otherwise they wouldn't be releasing both but I can't understand why anyone would want a rubber belt that would just stretch over time and affect the sound of your records. Direct drives pick up speed almost instantly, more reliably maintaining a constant speed over time - and with a TT belt drive you can't slip at all because if you hold the record tight the belt drive turntable will slow down or stall. It's just a hit. Give me a table of horsepower. In any case, it seems to me that the only two aspects anyone has complained about about this player are both built that way for some reason. The real question mark is its durability. A well built TT should last for decades if not handled by hand. Crosley has a reputation for making decorative toys rather than true high-end audio gear - this product could be a great way for them to change their brand. It's odd that this player is an exact replica of the Audio Technica AT-LP120 - take a closer look and compare them, they're literally IDENTICAL, as if pressed from the same mold. If Audio Technica doesn't make them for Crosley, but just uses another label, they should sue for patent infringement on their design. In other words, if you buy one of these you can get a discounted Audio Technica with a Crosley sticker on it. But you didn't hear it from me.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Negative impression
