I only bought stencils for this project. I circled the letters and numbers with a pencil and then went back and filled them in. The instructions say they can be painted over but without cutting, I don't see how that can be done without smearing. It comes with quite a few parts so cutting is not an option as far as I can tell. It was very easy to arrange them without having to worry about the slant of the words because the letters are so close together that you can almost cover a letter with a stencil to mark its location if that makes sense. I didn't have to clean them but I'm sure they are easy to clean, since it is a smooth material. You really gave me the result I was looking for!
